Kurukshetra in Haryana is the name given to a region covering 48 kosas (an Indian unit of measuring land) where nearly 860 places of pilgrimage exist today related to the Mahabharata. Mahabharata states that one who dies at Kurukshetra attains salvation after death.The vital sites are the Brahma Sarovar, Sannihit Sarovar, Gurudwara Sadbhiti, Thaneswar Tirtha, and Rajghat.
The tiny city of Sohna in Haryana, is credited with sulphur springs. This is in the heart of the city by the side of a perpendicular rock and is approachable only on foot through tiny narrow lanes where vehicles can’t pass. The water is highly sulphurate and its temperature varies from 46° C to 51.7C. ° The present site of main kund, known as Shiv Kund, is believed to have been the ancient abode of hermits. Located at just about 20 km away from Delhi, in Faridabad, this man made lake is one of the popular spots among Delhites for picnic.This is among the ancient reservoirs in India, that dates back to the 10th Century.
